“consistency is the playground of dull minds” -Yuval Harari
What is Art to you?
Art to me is the freedom of self expression. Art is fluid and constantly changing with the times. Art allows us to open up our eyes in many different ways. Through art the world may be seen in a whole new perspective and hopefully through my work you can see what I see.
How long have you been creating for?
I’ve been creating since freshman year of high school, ever since I received my first camera. From then on I branched out into other forms and mediums to further express and find myself as an artist.
What mediums do you work with and which one would be your favorite?
It Depends on what I’m working on, I like to work in many different mediums from photography to oil. I don’t necessarily have a favorite medium because, i don’t like limiting myself to one method of working. So yeah mixed media.
Describe your creative process, how do you go about creating a new piece?
My creative process starts in my sketchbook, which is on me at all times it’s sort of like a mood board that I’m constantly sketching and writing in throughout my day. Reference and research is a big part of my creative process as well, I have files full of artists that inspire me when I’m creating a new piece. I reference them as I pull ideas from my sketchbook.
What have you learned about yourself thru Art?
Thru art I’ve learned to take risks and get outside of my comfort zone. I’ve grown so much as an artist and a person I’m excited to see what the future has in store for me.
Who and/or what inspires you?
Artists such as basquiat, egon schiele, kathe kollwitz and many more inspire me. My peers and my surroundings inspire me everyday as well, we pull and bounce ideas off each other that contribute to new creations.
Where do you see your work in 5 years?
To be honest I’m not sure, I want to keep growing and progressing as an artist and hopefully my work will take me where I need to be.
