“The idea is not to live forever. It is to create something that will” -Andy Warhol
What is Art to you?
Freedom. I see it as an outlet to expressing my inner feelings, thoughts, and emotions
How long have you been creating for?
I’ve always drawn and painted ever since elementary school. It wasn’t until the end of high school when I began to take it serious and see this potential that everyone saw in me. By that time I’d taken a couple youth art courses around philly and began acquiring skills within other mediums like digital art, photography, etc. This was the beginning of a greater path I was to take.
Which is your favorite medium to work with?
I don’t have a preferred medium although painting and drawing were my first loves. but when I picked up a DSLR and learned the adobe suite collection, it truly felt like I’d unlocked a door to a new realm.
so walk us thru your creative process, how do you start on a new project?
It truly depends. With commissioned based and freelance work I’m usually given a concept and guidelines to work with. Personal work I approach as genuinely and real as possible. I want to speak to issues and themes that matter. But in order for it to be as genuine as possible I have to understand or connect to the theme or subject. So I’ll study up and then come to terms with it, then execute.
Who and/or what inspires you?
The beauty and many encounters within my adolescent years, everyday life, and emotional journeys inspires me and my work. I also truly enjoy the works of Basquiat, Jacob Lawrence, Picasso, David Carson (when referring to design) and many many others.
